SWV veterans must be physically & mentally able to withstand the rigors of professional maritime career. Veterans will typically be between 21-40 years old. Although, SWV will work with any veteran whom is mentally and physically able to work at sea—it must be clearly understood that life at sea can be as physically and mentally demanding as combat. Unfortunately, all our veterans must be drug free and not have substance abuse issues.

SWV will typically work with US Navy, USCG, and US Army Mariners as many of these veterans will have military skills that transition directly to a Maritime career; however, veterans from all branches and occupational skills are welcome. A large merchant vessel, like a military unit has a chain of command and structure that all veterans can excel in.
